Every year my friend hosts a grand dandiya party at her place where hundreds of women gather in their beautiful fineries and hence we mark the onset of festivities. There is live music, dancing, drums, lots of pictures, yum food (even for people, who are fasting during Navratras, like me).
It has become such a ritual that everyone looks forward to her dandiya party.
